So that’s what they were talking about

When I was growing up there were a lot of cryptic remarks made by grownups “just you wait until you’ve grown up, then you will understand” That would happen whenever we kids walked into a loaded conversation held by a huddle of Aunts and Grandmothers. Many things were not spoken of in those days… Just you wait! They would laugh… while glancing at each other, and then fall apart laughing.

Now I know what they were talking about, it’s all about failing eyesight and forgetting where you put something, or what you were doing 5 minutes ago.

Yes, all of those years ago they were comparing their lack of clarity, and the inability to remember just where they put their glasses. Reminiscing over loads of laundry in the dryer forgotten for days. Forgetting to take out something for dinner, and thinking about it as the clock struck dinner time.

They were talking about not being able to multi task as they aged, never trusting themselves to leave something on the stove, without setting the timer as a reminder. Sprinklers, and water hoses, never to be left unattended, cars running, doors open, those were the secrets they were whispering.

After all, what else could they have been talking about? [This post is written in a joking matter, but did your family have whispered conversations when you were little, and not let you be part of them?] Remembering again…
