Since we moved up here we have been able to see in “person” all of the family members on their birthdays, and that’s pretty wonderful. The last B day of the year is my Mom’s Birthday, and while we occasionally got to see her near the date, because it falls close to Thanksgiving, it was rare. Happy Birthday To YOU! It used to be that we would start trying to call her in the morning, we have a large crowd of relatives, and the phone would be busy all day. Since most of them lived in a different time zone, they called her early… really early. Poor Mom, not getting to sleep in on her B day.
So sometime by the end of the day, after trying on and off to get through we would be able to give her the B day wishes over the phone.
There is something wonderful about seeing her in person on her actual birthday, and giving her a hug. Kind of really wonderful… and no busy signal.
