There are three events going on this weekend between our little town and the nearby almost big city Sturgis North, a Motorcycle rally/rock concert, and two heavy metal concerts, one called STOMP.
AROUND HERE IT’S NOT
HIP TO
BE SQUARE.
When Blue Oyster Cult is the headliner then you know they are pretty serious, and if you are a motorcycle riding baby boomer, Hell’s Angel wanna be, or a heavily tattooed, black wearing, body pierced, interestingly colored, and coifed hair kind of person this is your weekend. Baby it’s so hot the fake tats are fading fast.
Of course if you are for real those tattoos are to, and they probably cover more of your body then your clothes do. All I can say is that I wish I had my big camera with the telephoto lens, and some guts, because being a people watcher I saw lots, and that was only this morning at the Farmer’s market.
Every time I turned around from checking out the fresh beets, and squeezing the tomatoes, another black clad, colored hair, interesting person would stroll by. I had no idea that they were so into fresh produce until I found out that the fairgrounds were hosting both the farmer’s market, and the heavy metal concert. What a combination for a small town. Honey the wild bunch is in town… get the shotgun out of the closet.
There was so much black, blue, red, and hot pink dyed locks, more metal piercings then a scrap yard has, and black leather abounding. Loved it, don’t want to be it, just wanted to photograph it. But I wouldn’t dare do it, might get someone a little restless about outstanding warrants and all that. Everyone is out there making a buck, the police are busy chasing down bikers without helmets, the mufflers are missing, and the noise is deafening. It’s going to be a weekend this little town will remember for ages. At least until it comes time to plan for next year. Stomping around town…
