Turn left at the pink magnolia — Wordy Wednesday's

I have a really good sense of direction, but for some reason I have problems remembering street names, and numbers. So if you were to tell me, turn left at the white magnolia, or the house with the magenta lilac hedge I would know which street you meant. Do all gardeners do that? Do you geo tag in your memory where all the special plants are? Do you remember trees, and gardens more than landmarks.

"Oh yes, the beautiful street with the amazing maple trees, you know the ones with the deep burgundy colors, that turn the most stunning orange in the fall." [ On the way to Langley] See you know what I mean. If you are a gardener, you know where the best patch of Erythonium pagoda is [the local public library]. Or which garden has the stunning clematis that seems to bloom all summer. Or the best pale pink fragrant roses that cascade over the black Fleur de lis trellis. [ The Catholic church, down the street.]

Because you are a gardener, you know where the first crocus bloom, [ at the back of the City Hall, between the police building and the fire department]. You know where to find a apple tree in the city, [growing in the sidewalk beside a store called"Deals"]. And you also know which area has the absolute best archway of cherry blossoms to kiss your love on date night [City Hall again]. Along with the first Peonies that bloom — on the way to the library, at the top of the amazing alley that has been converted into a garden walkway. We gardeners even have conversations where we share our knowledge of whats blooming and where,"by the way, that condo with the great Katsura tree out front has the most amazing patch of mature orange poppies right beside the exit door. And I will be sure to email you when they start to bloom."

Share with us, how do you remember streets, by names or plants. Are you one of those gardeners who knows where the best plants grow. Do you pay attention to what grows in your neighborhood, mentally marking each street by it's foliage?
